Tupperware Dealer – Dreams or Nightmares?

If the Tupperware website is accurate, the business of a Tupperware dealer will “fit your dreams” and provide everything you want. It will help you, the Tupperware dealer “achieve any or all of those dreams” and give “life on your terms”.
Most people have heard of Tupperware. It has become a household name in plastic products, legendary for lids that “burp” so contents remain fresh.
With such a well-known product, why wouldn’t a Tupperware dealer live a life of dreams?
The Tupperware Plan
Tupperware is an MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) Business. A Tupperware dealer will tell you, though, that this MLM functions on different principles.
Tupperware names its personnel: Tupperware dealer, Tupperware consultant, Tupperware manager, and Tupperware distributor. A Tupperware dealer is on the top level, the others beneath. Whichever level it is, the business seems to work well for a certain kind of person.
Look at how Emma, a fictitious Tupperware dealer, progressed:
LEVEL 1: Emma became a Tupperware consultant at a party. After registering as a consultant, Emma met her Tupperware dealer, a well-groomed woman who encouraged Emma with dreams of success. The Tupperware dealer told Emma she was allowed to sell the products only at parties she organized. At each party, Emma would explain the what, how, and why of Tupperware as a product, and take guests’ orders. In addition, she would recruit new consultants. “Wouldn’t you like to be a Tupperware dealer, too?”
LEVEL 2: Emma worked hard, recruited a number of other people, and became a Tupperware manager. Her Tupperware dealer called her on the phone and congratulated her. Emma’s new recruits registered under her, and began hosting their own parties. The Tupperware dealer talked to them now and then, too. As Emma’s sales increased (both personal and those from beneath her), Emma climbed the ladder to Tupperware manager, and set her sights on Tupperware dealer. Her personal Tupperware dealer continued to encourage her and give advice.
LEVEL 3: Emma’s goal of Tupperware dealer was more difficult to attain. She had to succeed first as a manager. Her Tupperware dealer told her that the Tupperware Company formally invites a successful manager to become a Tupperware dealer or distributor. There was no other way to become one. Those positions are limited, and not open to just anyone. So Emma and her recruits all continued to organize parties, sell products, and recruit. The Tupperware dealer urged Emma to increase her group’s sales and add more recruits to the chain.
LEVEL 4: Emma’s work became more demanding as she got more people working under her, and her dreams dimmed a bit, but she was determined. At last, the invitation came. Emma’s Tupperware dealer called to tell her. The Tupperware Company was inviting Emma to become a Tupperware dealer. She would not need to do parties or recruit anymore. She would only need to give advice and encouragement to new entrants.
LEVEL 5: At the level of Tupperware dealer, Emma’s dreams all seemed to come true. As Tupperware dealer, she seemed to have the world at her feet. As Tupperware dealer, she earned residue income, and would earn it as long as the products were sold in the chain of recruits beneath her. Now it was Emma, the Tupperware dealer, who welcomed new recruits and encouraged them. She made a few phone calls, and visited now and then, but mostly, Emma, the Tupperware dealer, sat back and enjoyed life.
Those who earn the limited positions as Tupperware dealer do seem to realize many of their dreams, but many more tumble from the lower rungs of the ladder, and are left with nothing more than nightmares.
The Secret
The secret to becoming a successful Tupperware dealer is probably your temperament. If you are an outgoing person, love hard work, and have a strong determination gene, a place as Tupperware dealer may be open to you.
