Tupperware – Still in Style

Expert AuthorWhen Earl Tupper first developed and introduced Tupperware in 1946, his product was not welcome in American homes. Housewives were confused by the Tupperware lids, and didn’t know how to “burp” them. They liked the lightness and unbreakable feature of Tupperware, but that was not reason enough to buy. Stores that carried Tupperware made few sales in those early years.

Then Brownie Wise Had an Idea

Brownie, vice president of the Tupperware Plastics Co. from 1951 to 1958, believed Tupperware products could be sold better with home demonstrations. A sales force could host parties in homes, show consumers how to handle the lids, and sell products on the spot.

The first Tupperware party with demonstrations proved to be a dramatically effective way of communicating the benefits of Tupperware lids’ revolutionary seal. Soon, the Tupperware company was so pleased with the home party system that it removed all of its products from stores.

Tupperware became available only through home parties.

Fifty Years and Counting

In the fifty plus years since then, Tupperware has grown and changed with the lifestyles of families around the world.

* When backyard picnics and barbecues brought families and friends together, and everyone shared food preparation, Tupperware kept the potato salad cold in the summer heat.

* When the U.S. economy produced 2-income families, Tupperware supplied a traveling desk and plastic carrying case.

* Baby boomers began having their own children, and someone decided Tupperware should include toys.

* Microwave ovens introduced a new challenge, and Tupperware responded with microwaveable plastic containers.

* As families sought greater income through the 1990′s and into the new millennium, Tupperware offered its consultants added incentives.

Sleek and Modern

Earl Tupper’s unique plastic ware revolutionized food storage, and that revolution has not stopped. Tupperware continues to improve life for many families, and continues to offer a lifetime warranty.

Passport to Storage

Tupperware has grown in demand, with its market expanding around the globe. With that expansion have come some delightful, unique Tupperware containers.

* In Korea, Tupperware keeps kimchi fresh with its Kimchi Keeper.

* In Japan, Tupperware keeps beautiful kimonos clean in the Kimono Keeper. Also in Japan, Tupperware carries lunches to cherry-blossom-viewing parties, school, or work with its Bento Box.

* In India, a Multi Masala Tupperware stores the chef’s 7 essential cooking spices in one convenient container.

Tupperware can be found in nearly 100 markets around the world now – and it’s deemed stylish in every one of them.
